Editing Tutorials · Exporting
A carefully edited photo can look soft or oversaturated after upload if the export settings are not suitable. The best workflow starts with the destination: a social post, story, portfolio page, or print file may need different dimensions and sharpening.
Choose the right dimensions
Export close to the dimensions recommended by the platform or layout you are using. Oversized files are often resized during upload, while very small files may look soft on modern displays. Keep a high-resolution master file for future use.
Use an appropriate format
JPEG is widely compatible for photographs and allows a practical balance between quality and file size. PNG is useful when transparency or sharp graphic edges matter. Choose the format based on the image rather than exporting everything the same way.
Check color consistency
For most web workflows, an sRGB export is a sensible default because it is broadly supported. If colors shift between apps, check the export color profile and avoid judging saturation only in one editor.
Sharpen for the output size
Resizing can reduce perceived detail. Use restrained output sharpening and inspect the exported file at the size people will actually view it. Too much sharpening creates halos around edges and makes skin texture harsh.
Keep a master copy
Save an editable version separately from your delivery files. That lets you make future crops or platform-specific exports without repeatedly compressing the same JPEG.
