AI Photo Editing · Portraits
A strong portrait edit should improve the atmosphere without making the person look like someone else. The most effective prompts combine a clear creative direction with practical limits on skin, facial features, and lighting.
Be specific about the light
Instead of writing “good lighting,” describe soft window light from one side, an open-shade outdoor portrait, or a subtle studio key light. Mention the direction and softness so the image has a coherent light source.
Keep texture believable
Ask for natural skin texture, realistic pores, fine hair detail, and restrained retouching. Avoid contradictory requests such as “perfectly smooth skin” and “fully natural texture” in the same instruction.
Describe the background
A simple background often makes the subject feel more intentional. Try a softly blurred neutral studio, a quiet street at dusk, or a muted outdoor setting. Specify that background objects should not overlap the face or create distracting edges.
Use a preservation line
Refine one detail at a time
After the first generation, identify the main issue. If the skin looks artificial, request less smoothing. If the face is too dark, adjust the key light. Small targeted refinements are easier to evaluate than a long list of changes.
